I have written about the fact that without your health you really have nothing. When you do not have your health you give up your freedom.
Before I go any further I am not talking about people with genetic conditions or disease with no cure. Having said that, 90% of our countries health issues could be taken care of if we took responsibility for our health.
I am going to go out on a limb and say that we are slowly losing for freedom, our civil liberties, and not being responsible for our health is a major contributor.
If you pay attention to what’s going on, our health is being used as a pawn for control of our healthcare, control of what we put in our bodies, control of our life.
“Control healthcare and you control the people” Saul Alinksy- Marxist
You can take this as political but it’s not. I simply believe in freedom.
Freedom for me and freedom for you. If you don’t believe in this we don’t have much to discuss.
I believe it starts with your health. If you can’t take care of yourself and expect others to do it for you how is that helping you or society?
We can discuss the high costs of healthcare, that is a legitimate discussion to be had, but for the purposes here, we are talking about having skin in the game. Everyone knows that when things are given for free there is less value associated. So, yes we can have that discussion but responsibility has to be part of that discussion.
We all have a value system whether you realize it or not. Some examples are; money, family, financial security, relationships, etc.
I have always coached my clients to make health a top 3 priority in their life. If they don’t, it becomes virtually impossible to get healthy however you want to define that.
Your values define who you are. This is not right or wrong as we all have different priorities but health is not negotiable. This has a profound impact on your family and society if you don’t take care of yourself.
To be perfectly honest it amazes me that we have got to the place where obesity and being overweight is the norm not the exception.
Part of this has to do with modern medicine. If you didn’t take care of yourself 150 years ago you died, there were no drugs to keep you alive.
As I wrote in the begging this does not include people with genetic pre-existing conditions. This is for the people that take zero responsibility for their health and can barely walk up a single flight of stairs without losing their breath.
As I said, I want freedom for everybody but I also want the best for everybody. I don’t wish ill will on anyone even if you disagree with me. As long as you’re not harming anyone we are good. You can yell and scream all you want just don’t harm anyone.
Health is the key to staying free.
It’s not money.
It’s not fame.
It’s not success.
Having your health allows you to get money, fame or success but most importantly keep it. This is the key distinction that most people miss.
People will chase money, fame and success at the expense of their health and then lose it or don’t stick around to enjoy it.
For the unmotivated it doesn’t matter they will not be successful and let their health go regardless. Harsh? Maybe or just being honest? It’s tough to be honest these days.
As I said I want everyone to have the chance to be healthy and free so I don’t see how I am not being anything other than honest.
The opposite of freedom is oppression.
Choose freedom.
