I got this question from a client the other day, “what is the best way to stick to your workout?”
My initial instinct was just get it done, but I know that is not fair. There are many different factors that can help you stick to your workout program but I will focus on these 3 as I feel like they are the foundation for everything else.
The first key is to follow a plan. When you are following something you have to keep track of it which in of itself will help you stay on track. That’s why all my clients programs are logged on an app that I can see.
The second key is schedule it and treat it just like you would a business meeting.
The last key is to plan for obstacles. What this means is what could stop you from getting your workout in and how do you get around it?
For example, a meeting inevitably comes up when you are supposed to work out or your kids have something come up.
How are you going to get your workout in? Here are some solutions:
Workout at lunch.
Decline the meeting and workout (my favorite option).
Workout later in the evening.
The list goes on but you get the idea. The easy way is to just skip it but that is a slippery slope.
You have to keep commitments with yourself.
The most successful people I work with or have worked with don’t let anything mess with their scheduled workout. You would be wise to do the same.
